The Fort Lee Consolidated Dining Facility will serve the men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
Construction of the new facility was overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, and will offer the men and women at Fort Lee a dining experience they deserve.
Johnnie Durant "It's all BRAC where we are trying to bring in all services the Air Force, Navy, Marines and Army in the dining facility. This is probably going to be one of the Army's first that will have all the services together working in the same roof and eating in the same facility."
BRAC, or Base Realignment and Closure, is the military's way of reorganizing and realigning its assets by closing and realigning installationsin an effort to create a more efficient organization.
This facility will have the capacity to serve 800 Soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines within a 90 minutes period. That number includes three meals a day, seven days a week.
Designed to replicate a college cafeteria, food is served buffet style, andthe facility, will also serve as a gathering place for small group activities.
Fred Stokes "The military when they got someone that can, that is possibly being recruited they ought to bring him to the dining facility saying, 'this where you're going to be 15 to 20 minutes each meal.'"
From Fort Lee Virginia, David Kidd.
