Of all the dancers of her era, Ann Miller was my form favourite - drop-dead beautiful, a fabulous mover, and legs to kill for, or die for, leastways, to do something pretty dire for. Sad when she passed.

She was known as the lady with the million dollar legs. She had them insured for that amount of money. I am 71yrs. old and I remember her like it was yesterday.

Since I was on this show playing drums at 13 in a Dixieland band called the Dixie Small Fry, I watched Ms. Miller rehearse this number and even at my young age I knew that Jack Costanzo was the man when it came to bongos. Wish I could find the rest of this show, Dec. 29, 1957 for the two numbers we did with Dinah and Fred MacMurray. Ann Miller was a triple threat star, actress, singer and fabulous dancer. Very gracious, as well.

Eleanor Powell was the fastest .Ellie was Ann's hero. Ann's agent concocted a story of how many taps Ann did in a minute. It was a publicity stunt. Though she was a rapid fire tapper she was not as fast as Ellie and admitted so. They called her Machine Gun Ellie. EP learned to tap rapidly by tying 50lb sandbags on each side. Many feel Ellie was the greatest dancer ever , male or female including Fred Astaire and Fayard Nicholas.

I wonder who could tap faster, ann or Eleanor Powell. I think Eleanor will always be my favorite, but ann is at a close second. Both amazing dancers
