How long did it take you to get the hang of driving on the roads? I'm starting out now. I drove for the first time yesterday in a parking lot, I sort of got the hang of backing up and making turns. I'm somewhat good at parking. Stopping...I'm ok at but I stop too harshly. Not slowly, and come to a stop like I should lol. xD I'm nervous about actually getting on roads with the traffic lights and whatnot. How long did it take you to get the hang of it?

@Halo2sam1 Well I would say I honestly got used to it after like 6 months. And that was with driving to and from school 5 days a week. Because before that my parents didn't really take me driving too much, so yeah (:

@jbdh39 lol being able to handle a car aint shit, actually learning the road is whats tricky its very easy to make mistakes, being a good driver isnt about how good u can take a left turn, anybody can "drive" a car its not hard but being able to obey the rules of the road and not make mistakes is how you be a good driver

@guitar43ver 5 minutes for me i was driving fine, small country roads with tight curves are scarier than intersections, and the first time i drove was at midnight swirving past drunk drivers that was actually scarry because the would swerve.

I'm 15 and I took my moms car without a permit no drivers ed nothing and I drove perfectly fine.. Be confident and cut people off and you shouldn't have any problems.

@Halo2sam1 don't worry. we've all been there at some point. the best way to learn is by making mistakes. avoid high traffic areas and lights for the first few times. remember your order at an intersection. press the brake just a bit and increase from there, that way you get a smooth stop. there is nothing to be worried or afraid of. just take it easy, look far ahead while driving and dont grip the steering wheel too tightly, it's not gonna fly off :) these are just basic pointers.
