We witness a massive dust-devil that tears across the playa destroying everything in its path. Okay, so it really only just got everything very dusty, but hey. The other version sounds more dramatic...

  • is the dust devil and tornado are the same???

  • nope. this dust devil, while probably the same size as a tornado, just does not have nearly the same power. I'm sure there are some that are more powerful, but all the ones I've experienced at Burning Man just blow a lot of dust around...

  • dust devils try to eat the hippies

  • proof that god hates hippies.

oooooH! those freaky baptist arkansas people should make signs that say that!

  • tornadoes are the best thing to watch

  • @aquarianbabe

True, on rare occasions dust devils can reach intensity equivalent to an F0/EF0 tornado, but they are not rated as such.

Fujita scale ratings only apply to tornadoes.

  • @dragonridley I don't know, but I was out in one and it beat the crap out of my kite, dragged me across the ground and tore up a couple trees along the way. So, it might have been an F0. I know I shouldn't have been out in it.

  • @aquarianbabe

Dust devils are not rated on the Fujita scale. An F0 tornado can actually cause damage.
