@CptRexFilms987654321 All games (3d ones) Use them now. They have become a normal part of game development. So, a good example is... everything you see in recent games.

can u only use this on plains? or can i like make a tree, and use the normal map texture for its bark? to make it more realistic?

@masorex yes, you can use it on any object (such as a tree, rock or anything etc). Basically, you are going to use it just like any other texture. It should be pretty easy to do as long as you can unwrap the object it well (which I still suck at lol). Have fun! :D

I'm sorry but this is not normal mapping. normal mapping is taking a greyscale height map, adding RGB color to it, rendering it, saving it as a png, and basically making it usable in the game engine. What you did was tested your graphics card. This method is doable, but not very effective.

I believe you might not have watched the whole video, as I delete the complicated mesh and use the baked png that is created towards the end of the tutorial. 2:14 is where the magic happens ;)
