Iraqi War profiteer, the Bechtel Corporation, was lampooned in a Street Theater skit performed by Peace and Justice activists, on Aug. 7, 2007. The event took place at Bechtel's down town Washington, D.C. headquarters. It is a company long associated with the powerful and grasping Military-Industrial Complex in this country, along with the seminal issue of "nuclear weapons proliferation." Earlier in the morning, the activists had performed a comparable satirical demo in front of the Department of Energy (DOE), at Independence Ave. The DOE is a department, whose predecessor agency was involved in the creation of the first Atomic Bombs. Two survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings were at the DOE ceremony. Today, the DOE is involved in maintaining, inter alia, the nation's "nuclear weapons programs," according to a press release of the sponsoring group for the demonstration, "The Atlantic Life Community," see: http://www.serve.com/nukeresister/134atlantic.html. Endorsing today's effort were two subscribing members of "The Atlantic Life Community" organization: "Dorothy Day Catholic Workers," See, http://www.catholicworker.org/; and Baltimore's "Jonah House" at: http://www.jonahhouse.org/. • I tried, but I can't endure the entire video. The octapus skit was dreadful.

  • look up dean roger ray on google video

  • Thanks folks for keeping the pressure on and the humor level high! Blessings to you all.

  • I like the bit at the very end about the Bechtel (octopus) profiting twice by building nuclear plants and then getting paid to clean them up again. I gather the nuclear industry could never build a plant if it weren't (doubly) subsidised like this. That's a free-market for you?

  • right on!

  • I would suggest you sharpen up your criticism of Bechtel and all other military contractors. It is not only the spectacular, the exceptional such as the Nagasaki bomb. It is the routine, the banal, the casually manufacturing WMDs just for money, and giving them to irresponsible institution, the US Pres and Congress *and the lobbying*. Ghastly. See diagram rosehill net.
