the pattering is understandable, during complex steps, running and jumps. but its not understandable during the opening sequence. Its understandable, their in a school theatre and their still learning. and not all of the ballerinas are making that pattering noise, which leads me to conclude their are a few who are taking private lessons and learning correct form and placement.
maybe you should learn more about ballet before commenting? take a class?
no, it means their not in complete proper form. their weight should be distributed evenly on their knees and hips, they should be stepping gently, not roughly, or they will injure the muscles in their ankles and knees.
ok... well if you go through the box right then you won't hear as much of the "pattering". also it could be the type of shoe the dancer is wearing, or whether they are wearing new shoes. and you will also hear the noise if many of them are running or jumping at the same time.
Lovely. I am a classical pianist who played for ballet companies for years. Ballerinas wear "point" shoes with hard enclosures that hug their toes tightly. This creates the "patter" sound you heard. I find this particular noise quite pleasant, actually. I also know how difficult it is for ballerinas to master dancing gracefully in hard shoes. Their feet are sore and sometimes bloody after long rehearsals--not a pretty sight. But it's well worth it. Classical ballet truly is a gift from God.
thanks for your prompt response!
