Video Wild horses by Nigel and Lea

The beginnings of this song go way back to the early seventies when I first came to Paris. One morning I went to buy some french bread for breakfast. I saw a sculpture of a horses head on a shop front. I thought great the have still got horses in working in Paris I was horrified to find that it was a butchers shop for horses meat. Many years after I watched a documentary on the television by the Bridget Bardot foundation all about how they were rounding up wild horses in Greece piling them into ships and breaking their
legs so they couldn't move around in the boat. They were shipping them to Italy and France. After this the next day the Song "Wild Horses" came out in one go words and music. JUST A HORSE.

HE TOOK ME INTO BATTLE TO PROTECT AND SAVE MY LAND
WITHOUT MY HORSE I COULD NOT DEFEND
COURAGEOUS AND STRONG AND ALWAYS LOYAL
MY EVER LOVING FRIEND

I RODE HIM THROUGH THE PRAIRIES TO DISCOVER DISTANT LANDS WE TRAVELLED MANY MILES FOR MESSAGES TO SEND
COURAGEOUS AND STRONG AND ALWAYS LOYAL
MY EVER LOVING FRIEND

HE PLOUGHED MY FIELDS ALL SUMMER TO PUT FOOD UPON MY PLATE AND PULLED LARGE WOOD IN WINTER TO HELP ME FENCES MEND COURAGEOUS AND STRONG AND ALWAYS LOYAL
MY EVER LOVING FRIEND

HE PULLED MY CARRIAGE INTO TOWN WITH DIGNITY AND STYLE
STEEPING OVER MANY STONES, GOES GENTLY AROUND THE BEND COURAGEOUS AND STRONG AND ALWAYS LOYAL
MY EVER LOVING FRIEND

TIMES HAVE CHANGED, NOW WE HAVE THE CAR AND HISTORY WE DON'T SEE THERE ARE MANY THINGS TO EAT IN LIFE
PLEASE PUT A BAN ON HORSE MEAT AND KEEP OUR HORSES FREE
WE STILL HAVE TIME TO MAKE AMEND
COURAGEOUS AND STRONG AND ALLAYS LOYAL
OUR EVER LOVING FRIEND, THE HORSE
