@reilly972008 because the toyota engine is a 4age engine which is made for racing silvertop blacktop etc, and the 1800 dohc lancer has a turbo no shit its faster, and your golf may be 20valve but isnt a raceseries engine.

the golf has a 4cyl 20valve turbo 1800cc engine that only develops 150bhp?!?! that is very poor! a toyota 4cyl 20valve non turbo 1600 engine can develop around 165bhp! a gsr lancer has a 16valve turbo 1800cc engine that can develop 200+bhp! what the hell is going on with VW?! Why so little power from an engine of this spec?? Why?

Owned a gti 6 and it was a good fun car but French cars a generally very poorly made..not built to last. German built is the way forward..

A bit better but at the end same result. Golf/A3 180 are too heavy.
Golf GTI, Audi A3/S3, Ford Focus ST, Opel Corsa/Astra OPC are made for Autobahn. Peugeot106 Rallye/S16, 306 S16, 205 GTI, 206 RC, Renault Clio RS, Megane RS/R26, Citroen AX GT, Saxo VTS, Xsara VTS are made for the track. Don't be wrong the true GTI aren't german, they have certainly all in all better engines, but the chassis and Handling are always better in french sporty cars, and you get more sensations for the money.
