Neo-cons never considered Bin Laden and many of the most dangerous Muslim extremists to be their enemy. Do you see Bush talking about them today? Nope. He talks about Iran and mis-identified groups in Iraq. They always had their sights on the "Axis of Evil" from day one and only used 9/11 as a pretext for advancing the confrontation time table. The interests of American citizens, including our protection, has never been a priority.
