My best guess from experience is that it is just nervous energy from being so pumped up for the run. Probably a bit of a left over habit from the standard style manual transmissions.

May be a stupid question but why all the wiggling of the shifter after the run? Does it jump back in gear if you dont continue to wiggle it repeatedly?
