  • Schubert is still living through his compositions and he will continue to live!

  • I'm german and we( bunch of soon-to-be vocal coaches) do a project" Winterreise".

I couldn't find a documentary in german, but at least 3 in English, loaded up by an American and a Spaniard. Shameful fact indeed. So many thanks to those kind and understanding "foreigners" who hold our german speaking musical culture in honour while we fail to do so.

  • @willb48 have to disagree about greatest composer, because to compare them all is not fair or equil. Chopin was the master of composing for the piano, Mozart and Beethoven were probably the best overall composers (i mean composing in all forms), Liszt was the greatest pianist, Bach was the master of the fugue. but Schubert, he was the master of the song, his music has wonderful singing lines, his final sonatas are profound. but i cant call him the 'greatest'. but defenately one of the masters

  • @sorim1967 to answer your first two questions, i would most likely say Beethoven - the 9th was regarded by all of the great composers after him to be THE ultimate manifestation of the symphony. and the Hammerklavier Sonata pushes and expands the form of the sonata way beyond its typical structure. however yes, Schuberts quartets and songs are sublime! Beethoven himself said of Schubert's music "he has the devine spark".

  • @Enyaangel Franz Schubert had NO children

  • Franz Peter Schubert January 31, 1797 – November 19, 1828)

  • @willb48 what do you mean "one more year". Whose symphony is greater than the last two he wrote? Whose piano soanta is greater the last three he wrote? Whose chamber music work is greater than the String quintet? Whose songs are greater than his last compositions? Who wrote a greater work for four hand than the F minor? SChubert DID have that one last year you asked for and he reached the apex - up there with a couple of others and in some ways beyond all.
