Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip Street Performance, NYC

I caught up with Dan and Pip just before their second night performing in NYC last week to capture a quick and raw street performance done in one take by necessity, and luckily, in avoidance of the police, who we were sure would eject us from the park (which happens to be on my old street on the Lower East Side where I moved to after college). I had sorted everything out beforehand with their manager and publicist and we were excited about filming this one. But after paying their respects live and direct with a freestyle tribute to the city and the artists whose original culture had opened up new worlds to them back in the day, I was shocked that they would engage in the worst kind of behavior, jacking up the shadowy but benign figure who lurks in Knowledge Park sporting a clown nose, playing vintage beats...violence? Just to take his radio and (try and take) my DV tape? I expected better -- violence -- extra-especially when it's a 3-against-1 gang-up, is just cowardly, and happens too often these days...look for this on the Carson Daly show Tuesday, 9/30
