Animation depicting the design of NASA's new Space Launch System that will take the agency's astronauts farther into space than ever before, create high-quality jobs here at home, and provide the cornerstone for America's future human space exploration efforts.

This new heavy-lift rocket will be America's most powerful since the Saturn V rocket that carried Apollo astronauts to the moon and will launch humans to places no one has gone before.

The nations that lead on the frontiers, dictate the course of human history.

Human spaceflight is an enabler of the education pipeline. It inspires, creates

jobs and spinoff technologies. That contributes to a healthy economy, which in turn

keeps more people off the streets, people who don't want to be there. Some folks there is

no saving. Medical advancements come from NASA tech as well.

Half a penny of the tax dollar is spent on NASA. It is not why there is homeless.

  • @frisky24

They paint them white and black so that heating effects don't cause unwanted effects. The same reason why most V-2 rockets have that chequered white and black pattern.

  • Wow that looks a lot like the saturn V rocket how ever glad to know NASA is planing something new for heavy lift launch vehicles as it will help us go more far then low earth obit hopefully mission's to mars and so on

  • This sucks if this doesn't go any faster than the previous rockets.
