US China Clean Tech & Alternative Energy 2 经典生活通 中美绿色技术及新能源

Bilingual (Chinese English) discussion of Clean Tech and Alternative Energy, a point of focus for both the US and China. In the US, we hope it will be a growing source of jobs in the decades to come, perhaps offsetting some of the losses that have occurred as manufacturers have moved production offshore. The US also looks to Clean Tech and New Energy in the hopes that we may decrease our dependence on foreign oil imports and reduce our environmental footprint.

China sees Alternative Energy, like solar and wind and biofuels, as competitive markets for the future, and wants to make sure that they do not fall behind global competitors. They, too, are concerned about dependence on energy imports and serving the needs of a growing population and economy. And from an environmental standpoint, China has an even greater urgency associated with new manufacturing and sources of energy that are less polluting.




Guests include Paul Dickerson of Texas law firm Haynes and Boone's Cleantech Practice Group and former COO at the US Department of Energy's Office of Efficiency and Renewable Energy and former Chief of Staff for the Department of Commerce's Foreign Commercial Service. Paul Watson is the Managing Director of Hermes Investment Group, where he has been the project lead for developing various Cooperative Research and Development Agreements in the renewable energy space. He is no stranger to China, having previously worked for KPMG for several years in Mainland China in their Corporate Finance Advisory Group.
