So? It's still triggering as fuck. Imagine watching this from a survivor's point of view. It's awful and triggering, and I'm sure there were people in her audience who are also survivors. I really don't like Katy Perry. I don't like her appropriation of my queer-ness. But I don't think she deserves to be raped, even metaphorically. This is awful.

There is absolutely NO context where simulated rape is okay. And guess fucking what - THE 'POINT' DOESN'T MATTER. Because this performance IS trivializing rape and making it into a joke. The punchline of the joke is literally a woman being raped. I don't care how fucked up Katy Perry is (and I don't like her one bit), that does not excuse this at all. They could've chosen a more tactful way of approaching this, but instead they support rape culture by using rape to make people laugh. Fuck that.

It is not about actual rape, you guys - it's only about kissing a girl from Katy Perry's point of view ! ... the thing is, "kissing a girl" would feel as offensive as an actual rape for such a faker :-)

pretty sure the "point" this offensive as fuck video was trying to make could have easily been made by just saying "if you actually tried to kiss her, she'd freak"

*Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistle* Thats the joke flying way over your head. Rape is not the joke, a talentless pop singer using lesbianism to sell records at a time(and I still think this) that its obviously just bullshit used to sell a record.

Yeah. Four years ago. Why don't you ask her what her thoughts are now instead of just jumping on your broom and zooming over her like some shrieking hellbat?

First of all, that's ancient history. Four year old video. A lot has changed for Amanda in that time.

Secondly? It's art. If it doesn't move you in some way, be it joy or revulsion, it's not doing it right.

But I understand where you're coming from. I just don't see the point in dragging someone's skeletons out of their closet.

I understand what she was trying to get at, the statement she was trying to make, but she screwed up big time in making it.
