  • And does this guy honestly believe the ONLY reason we've had declining union membership is simply b/c there wasn't a law on the books like this to "make it easier" to form one?? Why is it hard to believe Americans are fed up with unions? Like the fact that they are legally allowed to use EVERYONE'S dues for political campaigns. That's kind of sneaky, to say the least.

  • In the land of the free, how can you force any law-abiding citizen to join ANY association or organization? All states should have right to work.

  • So are those on the right in favor of employees joining a union if the majority votes in a public ballot?

I bet they'll never answer that question, because they don't side with the majority, the side with the status quo.

  • @whoo689 If the majority of a workforce wants a union why should they be dictated to by the minority.

Also they have the option to quit and get a non union job if they feel that strongly.

  • @mehlhaff5 The citizens' united ruling says otherwise.

However I agree that campaign contributions need to be limited for Unions as well as Corporations who lobby for the interests of a small few and not the majority of the American people.

  • @matahaari 100% wrong. If what you said was true, then the economy would be far better off right now due to declining union membership.

What's wrong with the majority of employees in a workplace getting a union if they want it?

If the American people thought unions were so bad, then you have nothing to fear from the Employees free choice act, as most in the workforce would vote no to a union whether it's passed or not.

  • @whoo689 So would you side with the workforce if they chose by a majority to join the union, or would you side with corporations who would ignore the will of their employees?

  • Obama says that if a majority of workers want a union, they should get a union. I agree, but they already have that option. I think we should also protect the workers right to NOT join a union if they DON'T want to. A secret ballot election is the only way to protect both of those rights.

  • And Canada has tightened its laws on unions giving out money for political purposes. Maybe we should all learn something from Candaian PM Stephen Harper as his Conservative Party government has basically put the labor unions sneaky power grabs out of reach. I mean right now, Canada is lecturing President Obama and that is not good.

  • Unions are just another level of servitude that concentrates power into an elite, ruling class. Card Check is another step that oppresses free choice and intensifies the power of a few over the many. This whole movement towards equality will severely lower the quality of life for everyone.
