Senna's remarkable story, charting his physical and spiritual achievements on the track and off, his quest for perfection, and the mythical status he has since attained, is the subject of SENNA, a documentary feature that spans the racing legend's years as an F1 driver, from his opening season in 1984 to his untimely death a decade later. Far more than a film for F1 fans, SENNA unfolds a remarkable story in a remarkable manner, eschewing many standard documentary techniques in favour of a more cinematic approach that makes full use of astounding footage, much of which is drawn from F1 archives and is previously unseen.

This was a wonderful documentary with plenty of blame to go around however, I didn't once think that Prost was portrayed as a villain. F1 is a highly competitive sport with very little room for error, but in the end, it was quite evident that the two had made peace which was very heart warming. If there were any true villains in this movie it would be JM Balestre .

It was pretty rough for Prost indeed, but that's how the show is in F1, plagued with politics and interest, that it leaves so much to be desired in regards of racing, it's been like that since then and it hasn't changed for better nowadays.

A documentary about Prost would be nice, but very unlikely to happen. for one who is interested tho, sure there are objective writen articles about these two drivers around on the web.

Prost might need his own documentary, which shows his side of story. This documentary showed how FIA president Balestre favoured Prost, but it never showed how Mclaren-Honda favoured Senna over Prost. At times, Prost felt a bit cheated and defeated with his own team. Also that hostile Brazilian GP scene (Prost son of bitch) , that was really sad. Yet, Prost was a pall bearer at Senna's funeral, a trustee to Senna's charity and a major contributor to this documentary.

I agree with you sir, Senna took his spirituality too serious and it moved him to achieve as much as he did, but it wasn't a realistic mindset. This gave foot to the Senna's pride vs Prost's methodic thinking conflict and the astounding battles on the track with their respective questionable maneuvers.

I also think this documentary would have been more enjoyable if Prost got the credit he deserves.

Senna had a dichotomous personality. He was consumed with self centred narcissism when he was driving and an exceptional compassion when outside the car. This dual nature made him much more intriguing than any other sports personality. He believed that when he was driving he subconsciously opened a portal to GOD and that made him extremely dangerous and fiercely protective of his territory on the circuit.

Not only this is a fitting tribute to one of most enduring icons of F1, but it is also an exhilarating and pulsating film with deep emotional impact. Even if you are well aware of the tragic Imola race, it still makes an uncomfortable watch at the end which shall make both F1 and non F1 fans swell up with tears. Also Alain Prost has been portrayed a bit unfairly in this film. That man deserves a lot of respect too, for being an exceptional driver and also for making peace with Senna.

Well thanks... I don't judge his persona or his ability as a driver, but his attitude as a racer. he was a narcissistic whiner.

I grew up watching F1 since the beginning of the 80's, my dad was a big fan of Senna. I reckon he was the best driver of his time and one of the best in history of F1 but he wasn't very smart and he was definitely a little bitch.
