  • I love the Panasonic's zoom technology I could only wish more would apply this technology. One thing that I wish Panasonic would do is to have the option of removing the "Processing" pop up when filling a 2:35 image it's very distracting.

  • Don't be fooled though this is not true 235:1. It cuts off some of the image on all sides and still has black bars! It's like having a zoom and focus save space on your projector. Still good stuff!!!!

  • @billybobcrunch

pretty sure it just zooms the image so doesnt utilize the CCD chips in full. pretty sure the blacks bars are still and just off the screen. so this answes parts 2, the subtitles would probably appear underneath the screen. i dont think its smart enough to take away the black bars automatically.

perosnally i dont liek to zoom because it ruins the resolution

  • Please keep in mind that this ONLY works as supposed when the projector is placed within the height of the screen. Otherwise the image moves up/down enough during zooming that the electronic "recentering" is unable to correct for it.

(This was tested at ~3m throw with a 90" 2.35:1-screen)

  • This is an AMAZING PROJECTOR! Panasonic thinks of everything. From inputs and where to place them, to side controls to this Anaorphic feature. If this projector was $3500 lets say. It would get more respect. Since it sells for less than the PT-AE3000 used, it gets compared to sub $2000 projectors. Think, a brand new projector sells for less than the old model used. (and obviously the 4000 is better) Also, I like the black casing,it fits in well with size and color of my other components

  • I OWN THIS PROJECTOR. The U and E mean Europe and USA. Different wall plugs (obviously) is the only difference. I orignally had the PT-AE900E and had to convert the plug to U via an adapter. The PT-AE4000 is kind of fudging it. It is processing to get the best picture but the black bars are still there. Now do to the decent black levels and hopefully black edges on your screen. You won't notice the black bars the picture still has. (Now all they need is a 235:1 and 16:9 scrren that zoom!

  • 16:9 letterboxed scope sees resolution/brightness wasted on the black bars. A projector/ anamorphic lens system sees image stretched vertically to use CCDs 100%, the lens corrects geometry to provide scope. two questions re; AE4000:

    1) Does it utilize the CCD chips in full, or is the resolution (area) normally occupied and wasted by black bars still wasted?

    2) Where subtitles are in the black bars of a scope movie, does the AE4000 re-position them over the picture (as one would see in theaters)?

  • The movie on display is "Jumper" A pretty good sci-fi movie that didn't get much attention.

  • whats the name of the movie pls?? n by the way great projector!

  • @UBProcks I have the same problem. I don't want to manually change the vertical shift everytime. I just set up the projector and still messing around with it.

  • hi can any one tell me what the difference is between the panasonic pt ae4000 , pt ae4000u and pt ae4000e and ifso whch one the better one thnks guys
