Popeye has beaten Bluto to a date with Olive. Seeing that Olive is superstitious, Bluto changes the date to Friday the 13th, and proceeds to rig various proofs that bad things will happen if she goes out.   • @cookiemoster567 That was the joke. You had Olive Oyl, this skinny, ugly girl who was self-centered and fickle to boot, and yet, some reason, she always had guys who seemed to be falling over her. It also helped that Popeye wasn't the most attractive guy either. Olive herself commented shortly after they first met that she'd kiss him if he wasn't so funny looking.
