This is what nuclear waste cleanup looks like to an operator vacuuming up radioactive sludge from basins that held spent nuclear fuel at the Hanford Site. The operator --standing on metal grating about 20 feet above the water in the basin -- must use a camera to guide the vacuum nozzle because any movement stirs up the sludge and clouds the water.
