"Nymph Errant" opened on October 6, 1933 at the Adelphi Theatre in London. Written as a vehicle for Gertrude Lawrence, it has the distinction of being Cole Porter's favorite out of his scores. The controversial plot involved a young lady traversing the world intent upon losing her virginity, taking her from Switzerland to France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, the Arabian Desert and back to England. Despite the outstanding score, the show was not seen in New york until the early 80's, supposedly because of its quintessentially "English" style.
Sung this time in response to a Russian Violinist's invitation for Evangeline to go to Paris with him after she rejects the French Producer.
Featuring Marie Santell and the Stephen Hill Singers. From the concert production on May 21, 1989 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London which was released by EMI Records.
