What do you think about changing the NZ Flag?

What do you think about changing the New Zealand Flag? It briefly came up in the leaders debate the other night on TVONE so I thought I'd put it out there and see what other peoples opinions are.

I don't vest too much in nationalistic or tribal symbols and certainly won't waste much time or energy arguing about them.

The current flag is fine. If most people think they want a new one.....then that's fine, too. If I like it, it'll put it on a t-shirt. If I don't...I'll put something else on my t-shirt.

I've never understood the emotional this can conjure up....while much more serious and important things are going on that people prefer to ignore if they can.

I'm Canadian by Citizenship but New Zealander by birth, I'm not in favor of a change in the flag, but if there has to be a change perhaps make some sort of a compromise, Don't remove the union jack just to appease multicultural activists or anglofobes. Why not just replace the southern cross with a large white fern on the same blue background or perhaps better, a black background. But don't get rid of the Union Jack. We must preserve our loyalty to BRITAIN our dear mother land.
