PART 1 of 2
Here the the SOG Powerlock EOD Model B61 multi-tool (MT) goes up against my standard of measure for full-size MTs, the Leatherman Charge TTi. This one of course is my Cabelas special edition camo version. The Powerlock is the black oxide EOD version. In this 2-part series, Nutnfancy pits them against each other in terms of size, weight, ease of use, comfort, toughness, versatility and features, carry case, quality, and price. You guessed it: the Charge TTi (or the AL, ALX, Ti) wins in most but not all categories. The SOG Powerlock suffers from cumbersome handle covers, sympathetic and less elegant tool deployment, a ¼ driver with a finicky lock, a tiny chisel-ground pen knife blade, a less versatile and heavier sheath, and its 1.2 oz heavier. Thats not to say the SOG Powerlock is bad: it offers a lot of strength with its compound leverage cams, has faster deploying pliers, has good tool variety (including better scissors and a punch), can use ¼ sockets, and its a lot cheaper than the Leatherman Charge. But again the Charge just shines: take for instance its quick detachable and strong pocket clip that can truly turn it into an EDC (every day carry) pocket tool (albeit a 8.2 one!). At least as of now, its just hard to beat the speed, ease of use, excellent blades, outstanding sheath, weight efficiency, and bit versatility of the Leatherman Charge series and it again comes home as the champ in the comparison. Nutnfancy Likeability Scale for SOG Powerlock EOD: 5 out of 10. Nutnfancy Likeability Scale for Charge series: 10 out of 10 Corrections: Meant to say S2 Juice as my favorite compact MT; at 11:45 I meant to say the Powerlock, not Charge (it was late!)

  • @1DJATone1 I'm supposed to be nice to the guy who rolled in acting like a horse's ass and calling this video the "worst review I have ever seen"? Get real... If you don't like it, make a better one on YOUR channel, but don't troll this one and expected to be treated with kid gloves. I'm not interested in making everything "fine" for you...if you don't like the review, do better yourself or piss off. -- Veri

  • Great review nutn. I just wish your gerber multi-tool reviews that I recently watched were this good. Not sure why emotions seem to be running high in the comments on this video... seemed like a thorough and objective review to me!

  • I in my like the leatherman charge tti because it has those quick access blades. But the size does disappoint me, because I like a heavy duty full size dependable multi tool. But they should make a knife with the compound leverage and you should be able to customize your knife with the tools you would use in your situation or your crisis. Overall I would go with the leatherman charge.

  • You haven't done a part 2

  • @zengmingde if im not mistaken they are made in china, so thats to be expected. americans dont make very many products anymore, but the products still made here are usually very well made.

  • I've used the SOG in the army... something similar to it is issued to the Singapore army. I found that it had horrible rust resistance, poor blade material (the tip snapped off under low loads). Handle covers did not fit well and closed with an unsatisfying and cheap scratching sound. I would very much prefer the wave variants as getting a knife out with one hand is invaluable. The SOG needs one to open the tool, pull out the handle cover, and pull out the knife. Leatherman would win this imo.

  • I personaly like blade out in my multi tools...Thanks for the vid....also appreciate the Victorinox vids...you da man!

  • Well, as far as the camouflage leatherman goes for use in the woods. in the words of the great Ted Nugent "I don't need no camouflage knife...No Sir" that is to say that it is much easier to get lost.

  • I'm surprised at how many people want comparisons between things as similar as possible. Actually, in today's society maybe it's not so surprising. But, sometimes people compare things that are different! If someone is looking at a Rezound phone would you call them to the carpet for not comparing it to a Galaxy Nexus, or would it be "fair" enough to compare it an iPhone 4S? He is comparing to tools he likes, not two tools that are going to double for each other in a movie!

  • @blatantevil7

From where you are coming, valid points (made probably after consuming inordinate amounts of caffeine). However, these are the exact two tools I am currently deciding between so this is not only the PERFECT review for me, but well-done to boot! Thank you, Nutnfancy... 2 thumbs up.
