Sedmikrásky (Daisies) - 1966

Daisies (Czech: Sedmikrásky) is a 1966 Czech film directed by Věra Chytilová considered a milestone of the Nová Vlna movement and the modern surrealist cinema.
Made with the support of the state-sponsored film studio, it follows two teenage girls, both named Marie, played by Ivana Karbanová and Jitka Cerhová; throughout the film they engage in strange pranks as acts of rebellion against the world in which they live.
Innovatively filmed, and released a couple of years before the Prague Spring, Daisies was labeled as "depicting the wanton" by the Czech authorities and then banned. Director Chytilová was forbidden to work in homeland until 1975.

Their robotic talk in the beginning = represents them as part of a big mass, allienated by a system, a hypocritical society.

The tree in the start = represents the tree of knowledgement of good and evil, from biblical story. These girls ate that fruit and fell, it meant they were freed from the rules of society.

Their glutton = Society reproved their freedom, so nothing they did was enough to stop their bore of that, so they could only relieve their repressed hyperactivity by eating a lot.

What an overrated and obnoxious film! Through and through. Zappa WAS right about the sixties. haha Though I suppose it's better than all the porn that country is churning out now. Let's hear it for freedom and capitalism.
