Sibelius violin concerto with Cadenza.-Richard Downs-Violin solo
Nicaraguan Born American Violinist, at the age of 12 received a full scholarship to study at the North Carolina School of the arts where he graduated with a Bachelor degree in Music. in 1990 he attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated with a Masters Degree in Performance, He studied in Carnegie Mellon with Andres Cardenes, soloist and Concertmaster of Pittsburg Symphony. He was a member of the Puerto Rico Symphony from 1993 until 2007; with the Puerto Rico symphony he travelled and Performed in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy center. from 2008 until 2009 he performed as concertmaster with The Asheville Lyric Opera. He also performed as a section violinist with the Asheville Symphony, Roanoke symphony,Roanoke Opera and served as Music professor with the community music program of the North Carolina school of the Arts. Currently Richard Downs Lives and works in Amarante, Portugal as a violinist with Orquestra do Norte

I played the concerto 15 years ago with Orquesta Sinfonica.,. You are the DRIVER. not a passenger. MUST take chances & performing with orchestra the give & take is crucial. I like Jascha Heifetz. He threw all caution to the winds & played the hell out of it.. I will have the surgery. Between Paraplegic or playing is not a choice.. you played so beautifully! I am getting married to my university sweetheart. and I have a daughter!.
