In the radio version of this story it is Sgt. Friday who is shot. The rest of the clip is basically the same with roles reversed except,of course, the final quip by Frank.
Damn! Frank gets it! I don't remember that much violence on "Dragnet." It was a shock to see somebody get blown up. I was too young to see the original "Dragnet" - even the repeats. Always liked the later one with Harry Morgan, even when it got too preachy. Seeing the early ones on YT is an eye-opener. Great show!
@klotzstang HGWT5763. 07/03/26/2011 A.D. MORGAN,WHO WILL TURN 96 ON APRIL 10,2011,WAS THE ONE AND ONLY BILL GANNON,NO ONE ELSE. ALEXANDER WOULD HAVE BEEN 100 ON MAY 26, WHILE WEBB HIMSELF WOULD HAVE BEEN 90 LAST APRIL 2.

This is a repeat of the radio version of the story. In that version Sgt. Friday is the one that is shot.

Gannon was an invention for the later series with Harry Morgan. Alexander, a former game show host, played the wonderful Frank Smith.
