Shift Happens UK - Video

Karl Fisch, of Arapahoe High School in the US, conceived and created the first version of this presentation for a staff development day. And published it on the web via his website. He released it and gave permission for others to modify it under a Creative Commons licence.
Scott McLeod modified it, to make it more relevant to an audience in a wider context. And published it on the web with a Creative Commons licence
After conversations with Karl & Scott, I modified Scott's version to include UK-relevant content (it was quite US-centric)
And then Jeff Brenman, of Apollo Ideas, applied the creative design to Scott's version. And published it on the web via SlideShare where, incidentally, it won the competition for the "World's Best Slideshow"
And finally, with Jeff's permission, Ray Flemming modified his with the UK context. And published it on the web

  • Probably just about the best video I have watched on youtube.

    Thank You.

  • You certainly did help in the war, when you eventually got there. Up until Japan attacked you, did you think Hitler was just some odd guy in lederhosen? Probably. Anyway, Russia won the war for us all (bless 'em), so let's not be smug.

  • This is sooo inspiring!

  • @HersheysOOO yea, it really isn't true.

  • 4:32 NOT TRUE...

  • @iVentureProductions It also does not say that the world will be dominated by a super computer - the processing technology is such that within 15 years it is estimated that a cheap to buy computer will have as much processing capacity as the population of the planet...you only have to chart the progress made in the last 15 years, to see how quickly the technology moves. Watch the clip again with both eyes open..and tell your friends to watch it too.

  • @iVentureProductions I suggest you watch the presentation again - .it is NOT saying that one nation has higher IQ's than another, it is highlighting the fact that the emerging nations have massive population, and therefore large numbers of people with relatively high IQ's.

  • It is UNTRUE that one nation has "the highest IQ's" over another.

Also it is an over exaggeration that the population of the world will be dominated by a super computer. Such videos like this do NOT portray facts and evidence only scare tactics which in truth achieve nothing! Please tell me what is the point of this video? And why did they choose the sound track they did! -

  • shit happend

  • i agree

  • Alorrt of da fings said here is soo TRUE!!!

  • And yet here in the US the TV ratings of the football are much higher than the learning, science and history channel, we are very inept because we have (not All) teachers who are very inept. People is not motivated to learn and become more proficient at what they are.
