@jocal43 It is very traditional Maltese "Ghana" (singing) - it's been around for many generations.

This is pure RAP. So we can say that the Maltese Ghannejja invented RAP, everybody else followed.

@joebarbara43 Tony is fantastic and the late Il-Bambinu was a great ghannej also. Thanks and warm regards.

Two of the best folksingers. Thanks Alfred.

Is there any chance of me getting a translation of this? My Maltese is pretty basic so I didn't understand it all. Awesome video though.
Even though I didn't understand one word they were saying I could see that the two singers were enjoying themselves immensely. I had to laugh when the older man caused the younger one to break-up and almost miss his own entry. Looks like wonderful fun for the audience.

@ShirleyJean1000 This style of singing is very popular and, don't forget, they improvise on the spot and reply to each other accordingly. Mikiel Abela known as il Bambinu (the little boy) is one of the best we had. All folk singer are known by nicknames speaking of which, not sure if Tony himself has a nickname; i have to ask him.
