Im sorry to say, but if you guys still live there, he may not ever get over his fear of trains after today's derailment.

They locked me in school an duct taped the doors shut so the smoke wouldn't get in

Great Song!! lol

When that happened it really sucked for people with lung problems, i remember my mom freaked out and locked me in the basement so i wouldn't breathe in the smoke, lol

Good thing your not a firefighter...

The firefighters probably did a good job but I don't see why you'd hose down a chemical fire with water so that chemicals can seep into the ground instead of being burnt off with minimal seepage.

when that happend every one freaked, some scary shit
-
when it happened I-65 WAS SHUT DOWN FOR AT LEAST A DAY UNTIL THEY COULD MAKE SURE THE SMOKE WAS NOT TOXIC
My house was on the other side. So far our health is ok, but I was pregnant at the time and end up loosing it.the most crazy thing is the train did have an empty cholorine tank on the it, if it had been full then we would have been dead. My 4 year old still remembers the explosion. He is still very scared when he hears the train whistle blow. We got a pict of me comming out of my back door carring my son,Crazyist day I ever had. We live just off 44 now,far from the tracks.

Safety and 'maximizing the bottom line' don't necessarily mix! The USA should look to Europe for appropriate systems of rail safety; here there are big fines for operators who don't adhere to the rules and powerful inspectorates to administer rules & judgements! (-without prejudice to the incident in the clip above whose precise circumstances I know nothing of.)
