Into the Cosmos R.I.P my friend...
I started getting Interested in Spiders after being bitten by a poisonous one, so I got one to beat my new and only fear and I fell in love and wanted more, so I started looking for a Cobalt blue and continued looking in NH for three years, then i found a store that could get me one, 6 months later I was called stating that the Cobalts successfully mated and that I was first to order along with an Indian Ornamental, around 12 weeks or so later I was called again to pick them up. With thunder lightning and 50 mph winds and some flash flood warnings, I didn't even hesitate and left on my hour an a half journey to the beach!

When I arrived at the store there was no power and I had to pay with cash due to the register being without power. No problem, I have cash! Then he states that the spiders had some problems, the Regalis lost a small bit of her foot during a molting process, Not a problem I said! And the Lividum he says wasn't eating for reasons he didn't know, and that It would be best If I got another female he had a week or two older, but feeding vivaciously, A little confused I agreed. And took them home. I named the Cobalt Cosmos and the Ornamental Artemis, I was Pumped!!!!!!!

The next day I awoke to find Cosmos (Cobalt) In the death pose...
After I pulled myself together enough to look at her completely I noticed a slightly deflated abdomen similar to some dehydration cases i studied and decided to further inspect her, and without details I found in her abdomen absolutely no internal hemorrhaging and a blatter that typically has at least some fluid was completely dry, even shriveled! Even after I fed her two crickets the day before, which shows how extremely dehydrated she really was.

  • SpiderScience. It appears to me that cosmos wasnt a female. Looks like a male 2 me. He mostlikly was mature and wouldn't have lived very long. The brown color's that this cobalt (h.Lividum) you have in your video are a sure sign of a male. The female is more gray/black and blue.. Just something to think about. RIP MR. Cosmos

  • Yeah, I got fucked by that pet store, I can see it now, I only would have found out at the first molt, I don't count on appearance but sexual organs, And I am new to Haplopelma species and some other old worlds, So I really appreciate the advice.

  • Cosmo was only 3.5 inches and males live longer than 3 months, and I had thought maybe because it was close to molting..

  • sorry bout ur spider dude

  • Thanks man

  • sorry poor ol' cosmo!! U will now meet my Cobalt Condouchous up in Spidey heaven! :( Will be dearly missed! Nice memorial video!

  • Hey man, sorry about that lost.

My culry hair died a few weeks ago. So I know how you feel.

That H. lividum was male indeed. They sold it as a female spider?

  • so sorry for your loss....

  • Thanks for the video, it was very touching. I also thought that Cosmos lQQked male. Either way, it's hard to lose a beloved spider and those of us in the hobby totally understand. Keep your chin up.

  • Oh yeah I put 2 videos up of female cobalt blues.. Notice the grayish color with deep blue legs. All the males are normal brown

  • That sucks man. Sorry. Not a lot of people understand that even with animals like tarantulas, you can get atttached enough to feel grief when they pass.
