I say let them burn (literally). this is a wasted argument. let them keep posioning their scalp. it lets us id the strong from the weak. funny i have never seen a black women over 40 with relaxed hair past her shoulders, but i know many black women over 40 with dread all down their back, even some who touch the ground. I wonder why??

This debate will go on and on because like it or not we are judged by the way we wear our hair. The only way we can side step this issue is to build our self esteem/ self worth so that we can wear our hair the way that we are happy with. Relaxed or natural if you are truly happy the way you are, then carry on. Personally I am against relaxers due to the damaging effect it can have on hair (been there, done that) and feel a lot more free and economically 'well off' being natural.

@blynbb Everytime I see a sister with natural hair I compliment her on how nice her hair looks. I feel that if all black men who admire sisters with natural hair would do this one thing it would eliminate the thought that men may be ignoring them because of their natural hair. In most cases that is a assumption not fact. The day WILL come when the majority of our sisters will be natural the website ebonyheart2heart in their hair section lists all the chemicals and side effects! A MUST SEE!

@blynbb At the end of the day we're talking health people. The chemicals cause damage! It absorbs into the body! These are the facts! Anyone causing controversy is doing so because they have a agenda. Every person who says theyre black on here is not black. Some of these comments even come from people who sell perms and relaxers, make theyre living off it. Theyre in fear of loosing money. THE FACT IS THE CHEMICALS ARE HARMFUL TO YOUR BODY!!

...i have natural hair but that's my choice. if you want a chemical relaxer, do you. That's your choice. If a man doesn't want me because of my hair then it's his loss. I'm not losing sleep over it, chile.

OMG music is too loud and distracting o_O

hahahaha NATURAL's always gonna be better than a perm. people with natural hair always have longer and healthier hair then a permed head..and what you guys are saying is SO TRUE, we have bigger things to worry about then our hair..wtf...it really isn't that big of a deal, take care of it and have fun with it...Now go workout or Read a Book..

This 5 min discussion seems very one-sided...there are plenty of other things that are damaging to the hair besides chemical treatments...I am not saying that chemical treatments are not one of the worst but micro braids like one of the panel speakers had actually pulls your hair out from the root and sometimes stripping the hair out at the root can damage the hair gland and hair will not growth as it once did in that area. But in all hair is dead once it leaves the scalp.

it's just hair!

2:45 Destroy yourself? Gimme a break? I just relaxed my hair after having it natural for 14 months and I was immediately made to look like I failed. Sometimes I feel like natural girls want to look down on relaxed girls. It's MY choice what I want to do with MY hair.
The video clip looked extremely one-sided.
Wow! It's just hair, this is stupid. I choose to be natural because Its easyer in my oppinion and I think natural hair suites me. Who really gives a shit wether your natural or not.

@blynbb This clip was taken from an event i filmed in London call Adornment, its organised once a year for the black African Community in England to showcase African products, Art fashion, there are workshops on health, natural beauty and different therapies. there is as a big emphasis on healthy eating. So the clip is just a small part of a discussion, if you listen carefully you would see it was edited to give a balanced view

@justice4all I didn't hear a balanced view. It was very one sided.

@shlinda1 If you listen to the Guy he is supporting black women in doing whatever to their hair and the women on the panel with the cane row style was against the women even though she was natural, The discussion in it raw state was for natural hair, but the discussion was not all about that topic, I took out 5 min from a 30min discussion, now the heading I gave it is nothing to do with the topic on the day. I used the heading to get people to listen. Hope you get what I am saying peace.
