Hardwood "Drumming In Memphis" Tongue Drum at House of Musical Traditions

Michael Thiele, maker of "Hardwood Music" tongue drums, visited House of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park, MD on December 9 2010. In this video, Michael demonstrates a "Baby Chorded 12-key" drum, with the "Drumming In Memphis" tuning. This has been one of the most popular drums. It has a chorded progression in the key of C.

HMT has been selling Hardwood drums for over 30 years. Michael Thiele and his son Joah Thiele make these instruments (also called slit drums or log drums) by hand in their shop in Flagstaff, AZ. They use beautiful hand-selected domestic and exotic (non-endangered) hardwoods, and tune each model precisely to a specific scale. These drums are used extensively throughout the recording industry by major performing artists (including Ben Harper). They are widely recognized as the "Strad" of tongue drums.
