Dave Stewart said that the secret to making a really good cover version is to completely re-work it and make it sound totally different to the original. This is a stroke of genius what he has pulled off here.

No disrespect to Lesley Gore but the original lacked atmosphere and feeling.

I love this cover. I think this version comes across very much more impassioned than the original, considering the first person viewpoint of the lyric.
