Creating a Menger sponge by poking holes in a solid cube recursively. This procedure actually creates a simpler object than the usual approach of sticking cubes together, which makes the fractal twenty times more complex at each step, but this isn't enough to stop it bringing my computer to its knees by the fourth level of iteration. This animation took the best part of a week of computer time, for ten seconds of video. As Doris Day didn't sing in "Calamity Jane", "Never underestimate a Menger sponge!" Still, I like it.
