Dakota Gasification Company near Beulah, ND, claims the world's largest carbon capture project. www.basinelectric.com www.dakotagas.com In 1997, Basin Electrics major subsidiary, Dakota Gasification Company (Dakota Gas) agreed to send at least 95 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) of 96 percent carbon dioxide (CO2) from its Great Plains Synfuels Plant through a 205-mile pipeline to an oilfield near Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. Dakota Gas has been successfully capturing a portion of its CO2 emissions and transporting the gas to Canada since September 2000.
