there's some great character art, it's just choppy in some parts and too slow in others (like the falling hatchet thing)
time and copying has faded the lines out pretty badly in some spots but i wouldn't say it's 'horrible'
as for plot, i think it's fine to not have a narrative structure, it can just be a fun exploration, it didn't really bother me

I don't think the plots so bad. Clearly he's joining a crew fraternity at university. If there'd been an opening sequence of him deciding to join, or even arriving at university, it would have been more clear. It was probably much more clear in the 30's when this was very much the Joe College stereotype. Plus, the initiation rituals are all based on fairly common myths about Freemason and fraternity initiations like "riding the goat." All in all, the cartoon's plot isn't bad. It's just dated
