Occlusion is a significant challenge for many tracking algorithms. Most current methods can track through transient occlusion, but cannot handle significant extended occlusion when the object's trajectory may change significantly. We present a method to track a 2D object through significant occlusion using multiple nearby cameras (e.g., a camera array).

seriously, if we followed the form of nature and evolution more often, we'd probably advance in technology a lot faster

  • Brilliant. I hope I can see a form of this software on commercial cameras soon in the future. You've solved a number of imagining and object-tracking problems in a very simple way (with a lens modification and computational depth tracking).

  • oh! barack obama links this vid on his facebook page!

  • this would be good for augmented reality keeping digital objects consistent even when they get ocluded

  • awesome!!

    bring it on!!!
