I should mention that I'm Irish, so I've heard this sung ad nauseum. But I have NEVER in my life heard it sung so well, and at thos stage (I'm 47 today) don't expect to hear a better version ever.
She got some of the words wrong, but jesus, Allison, with a voice like that...
Hey, if you ever get tired of Steve... ;-)

Wow, it's so deep, so beautiful, so sweet... so... I wish I was in Carrickfergus one again... to dry my tears, and fell me home and dry!

I come back almost weekly to listen to this song. I love Allison Moorer's music but none more than this one. I only wish my mother were still alive to listen to this recording.

How can 4 people dislike this? It is sublime!
@glusburn Allison knows a thing or two about pain. Her father came home and shot her mother dead, then shot himself. Allison and her sister (Shelby Lynn) were in there when it happened. Allison was 14 years old. Maybe that's why her voice is so affecting. It's like she carries the pain in her voice.
