@ddviolinist Is it more of a balance point kind of thing?.. I've been trying to perfect that spot for quite some time now

@Violinjunky You are absolutely wright. May I just suggest another artist, a great artist, who plays this Kreilser. Her name is Laurence Kayaleh. Go look for her on youtube and please comment.

@Violinjunky I am looking at the music right now. WHERE does it say to play the double stops at the frog? Not in my music.

Another beautiful rendition by Ida.....a legend.

I love the first part playing with notes.

I cannot stop listening to this... this has a quality about it that no other interpretation does. I know that's how interpretations are kind of supposed to be,,, but this one is by far the most capturing.
Who has heard Fritz play this piece? Possibly Ida..NO..PROBABLY IDA..who is known for her absolute faithfulness to the composer and his intent. She performs this piece PRECISELY as Kreisler marked--the double stops at the frog as indicated (which is probably what you refer to as "stiff" where she picks up and goes back to the frog again..she is following Mr. Kreisler's exact instructions)
This is the most elegant performance and probably the closest to Mr. Kreislers possible

While we agree its a lovely piece and written in 18th century style--we won't come to terms on Kreisler's style. I believe Ida was a witness to his playing and was faithful. I also believe though he wrote the piece in one style he played quite differently--as he employed his own unique style. As for Art Deco--take a listen to his Paganini Violin Concerto 1--I think Ida knew exactly what she was doing in interpreting this piece to reflect Kriesler perfectly. Ida knew Kriesler.
