Classes were canceled in Quincy on Tuesday as striking teachers defied a judge's back-to-work order. Norfolk Superior Court Judge Thomas A. Connors on Monday told the city's 800 teachers to return to the classroom or face "significant monetary fines and damages."
The order comes at the end of a second cancelled day of school, which has left the city's 8,750 public students in limbo in their final week of classes before the start of summer vacation.
The order essentially adds potential punishment to a ruling Friday by the Massachusetts Labor Relations Com mission that declared the strike illegal.

  • If this is a teacher's strike then why is there ''WE SUPPORT QUINCY STUDENTS''? Were they against this strike?

  • Those damned teachers don't deserve a penny. Back to school!

  • You'd be surprised at the number of "WE SUPPORT QUINCY TEACHERS" signs that were everywhere. The taxpayers supported their public schools, but the mayor was conducting unethical public bargaining practices and wasn't giving the teachers what they deserved. Well, he learned his lesson the hard way at the next election, when the teachers AND the taxpayers/voters remembered!

  • kid on the right at 1:25 is in my class

  • haha i'm in that picture withh my friends at 1:15 - 1:19 (=

  • these teachers forget one thing, the tax payers pay their salary. In our area, we have teachers strikes all the time, yet many tax payers cannot afford to give in to the teachers, it is not they don't want to, but cannot afford to. Big Difference.

  • lmao one of my teachers at 1:07..

  • The teachers stood up for their rights. Mayor Phelan lied to the public about the Quincy teacher salaries being one of the highest. They are not. This mayor manipulates the truth. But we'll remember in November. His opponent, Koch, has 900 new campaign workers.

  • ok i had school 2 day and yesterday and i didnt have school last thursday or friday or monday tuesday wendsday
