This is a tribute to Allen Schottenfeld from his friends at the Sons of the Desert, the International Laurel & Hardy appreciation society (specifcally Oasis #85, the "Another Fine Mess" tent of New Jersey).
Allen loved nostalgia, especially Laurel & Hardy, Howdy Doody, the Lone Ranger and classic movies, radio and TV shows.
He once met Stan Laurel (when Allen was a child) and often told that tale at meetings.
He was a kind, witty, gentle soul who we all miss. He was also a school teacher, airplane pilot, and well-regarded camp counselor (read his advice to other counselors here: http://www.acacamps.org/members/knowledge/participant/cm/015words.php )
We love you & miss you Allen!
Allen's quote at end (audio is tough to hear):
For me, theres not one moment, but the fact that they got along so well. That they never disliked each other everything they did was to help each other, really. They got in each others way, but in the end you got a really good feeling that they were friends, which I think distinguishes them from other comedians who hit each other over the head and are more violent. Laurel & Hardy were really two grown-ups who were children at heart.
