Volunteering with Spiti Ecosphere in the Himalayas

Ecosphere, a social enterprise works on various development projects in the Spiti Valley that are contextual and address various issues of climate change, sustainable livelihoods as well as nature and culture conservation.
The video showcases volunteers that traveled with Ecosphere and helped build a greenhouse for the Kungri Monastery in Pin Valley, Spiti in 2 weeks. The greenhouses enable the local communities to have access to green vegetables throughout the year and even in the harsh winter conditions when nothing grows in the valley.
Volunteer travel is a great way to experience Spiti. It gives one an opportunity to really mingle and understand the ways of Spiti life and contribute something tangible and long lasting for a sustainable and contextual development of the region.
