I'm not much further than he is. I've defeated Don Krieg and have made the bridge to the beach, but it's blocked off by rocks... Does anyone know what to do? (Also, I only have one orb use spot open, and it says I'm missing 2 "X Component"'s

From Camp, go North East direction (the left side of the big tree), break the brown rocks to move on. Ignore the giant rock and the OP sound here, just keep going North East.

When you reach a red barrier, watch a cut scene and you can now go to Ruins Zone.
