Good going! Yeah, it's not a good idea to repalpate the potential puncture site once it's been cleaned & disinfected. Otherwise, the student did a great job for just a first try.
DOnt ever retouch the site after it has been cleaned. You just contaminated the site! Then take the tube out of the vacutainer prior to taking out the needle.

i don't like how you held the vacutainer. You should hold it with your first three fingers resting it on the patients forearm.
