sorry...imho he has spoiled it. It is a song about toddler Ram that is learning to walk - the poet describes it beautifully, even if you are not religious you can ejoy it. There is not much room for the verbal gymnastics and acrobatics he is engaging in. Please listen to Pt. DV Paluskars version and you know the difference..

This song is in a Hindustani raga called Jaijaivanti. In Carnatic, it is called Dwijavanti (Jaijaivanti = 2 jaivanti = Dwi-javanti).
Arguably, Peelu, Mishra Peelu, Kapi, etc. sound similar to this.
