  • Many of you may not know that this song was Brahms' dedication to composer Clara Wieck Schumann, the wife of Robert Schumann, another great composer. Most of Brahms' really melancholy pieces were his frustrated fantasies of adulterous love to Mrs Schumann.

  • Marked PIANO espressivo at the outset. Heifetz chooses to play FORTE.

    Even for those who love Heifetz as I do, this kind of decision making is puzzling and exasperating.

  • @PhilipLu3 All the movements are very beautiful, but I have to agree that the 2nd movement reaches even greater emotional heights than the others.
