Wedding Trends 2011 Houston Chapter of NACE

Wedding Trends originated in 2006 as a regularly scheduled monthly program idea for the Houston chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE). The program's intention was to offer latest trends in the Houston Wedding market with regards to themes, food and entertainment. Attendance and participation were overwhelming and the Category 2 Hurricane grew to a Category 5 in four short years. In recent years, Weddings Trends explored and conquered Organic Nuptials, Indian Monster Balls, and the Black and White Phenomenon and tackled the impossible, with Weddings Transformed in 2010. Weddings Transformed successfully recruited over 60 professionals with in-kind donations, over 300 attendees, and a profit margin, which allowed many educational opportunities for our professional and student chapter members. Similar to many weddings and special events, there is always the competitive drive to "outdo" the previous year, and this year will be no exception.

Wedding Trends 2011 is focusing on destination weddings either abroad or backyard and everywhere else in between. What better place to fulfill our destination "with a new twist" wedding theme other than an actual airport? "The Sky is The Limit" where the Houston Chapter of NACE is concerned, leading to the selection of one of Houston's most unique special event's cabin. The cocktail hour will take place in the first airport terminal in Houston, which has been converted into a monumental museum. After the reception, we will transport our guests to the museum hangar where the festivities will spawn a whole new level of travelicious. The excitement over transforming a unique lunch program into an extraordinary evening gala will guarantee massive attendance, corporate sponsorship, community involvement, and record-setting revenue.

NACE is a non-profit organization and maintains itself in a frugal manner, which will enable us to contribute more funds to the historical restoration of the 1940's Air Terminal Museum and to our NACE Foundation. Our focus is educating our industry youth and tenured professionals through mentor programs, national conferences and an industry renowned certification known as the Certified Professional Catering Executive (CPCE). Not only do NACE members benefit from networking and relationship-based business partnerships, but also reap the honor of being industry leaders in Houston. As Houston jet-sets into the position of the largest growing professional and student chapter of NACE, it is our responsibility to use our miles wisely. Our mission for this year's gala is to jet stream philanthropy, education, and innovative special event trends to our industry and to our community.
