The Wolfram Demonstrations Project contains thousands of free interactive visualizations, with new entries added daily.

Over a period of nearly 26,000 years, the Earth's rotational axis moves in a circle with respect to the stars. This is known as precession. As a result, our current north star, Polaris, will appear to slowly drift and be replaced by a different north star.

  • Wow. This is the fifth video I watch to learn how the precession works and I think it is the shortest, and clearest. Basically, the Pole point is in a different location at all times. So even though the earth spins on itself, it's actually not a symmetrical same-point spin, but it's a wobbly spin that produces a circle (precession). GREAT!

  • It is the Ecliptic plane in which the Earth makes its

    > annual rotation around the Sun, Which cause the 4 seasons to

    > form & NOT the inclination of the Earth's rotation axis

    > about itself by23.5 degrees (as known) is responsible for

    > forming those seasons! In fact both axis of earth & Sun

    > are parallel to each other.

  • have you seen my movie?
