@yung575 Kubo explained it right before the fullbring arc started . Ichigo has massive amount of spirit energy, but he cant controll it properly( still) . Mugetsu is just all of his energy foccused together. He seems to get stronmger when he must defend his friends, his will power helps him.

Mugetsu, if ichigo ever learns to controll his hollowfication, he will be as strong as mugetsu itself. Thats it

But how can you explain how strong ichigo was when he fought kenpachi and byakuya 2 captain level soul reapers and won which showed his incredible growth and then just all of a sudden jus stop or slowed down way down and then when they fought aizen when he transformed and ichigo was the only one that could sence if spiritual pressure which could only b sence by some with same or near the same spiritual pressure

Also Ginjo found out about what the badge was really for and thats one of the reasons he turned against them, Ichigo was told by Ginjo and acted differently, saying he knew about or had an idea of what its real purpose was a long time ago (a flashback in the latest chapters Ichigo showing his badge to the afro Soul reaper and him not recognising Ichigo as a formal sub soul reaper position, so basically thats an example he thought it was useless). Hope that clears thing up a bit.

@KiteFlyer69PS3 then if both Ginjo and Ichigo were to fight against Soul society , the captains would kill them both, as they originally planned to kill Ginjo at some point if he came out of hiding in the living world.

But what is bugging me about this is, the soul society could have easily killed Ginjo off themselves, judging from the latest chapters,he was pretty crap villian.... fighting wise.

@KiteFlyer69PS3 The badge Ichigo was given by Ukitake (at first in the soul society arc) we assume it was proof that it was a sub shinigami/soul reaper and could detect hollows and help him turn into his soul reaper form.

However recently (these past few chapters) the real reason for the badge was to restrict/lower Ichigo's spiritual pressure/power and to monitor Ichigo almost 24/7 and make sure where he was and not betray them, also it was in hopes to lure out Ginjo (first sub soul reaper)>>>>
